Crawley MP Peter Lamb Plants Cross in Garden of Remembrance

Peter Lamb, Crawley’s Member of Parliament, has planted a wooden cross in the House of Commons’ Garden of Remembrance in recognition of the immense sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces from Crawley.

The temporary garden was first introduced in 2021 by the Speaker of the House of Commons to mark 100 years since the first Remembrance Sunday was held. The memorial has since been undertaken annually, in conjunction with the Royal British Legion, as part of its Poppy Appeal, and sees New Palace Yard in Westminster be transformed into a Garden of Remembrance.

Members of Parliament from across the country are invited to pay tribute on behalf of their constituencies, and stakes are also planted to represent the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth and the 14 British Overseas Territories.

Commenting on the garden, Peter Lamb, Crawley’s Member of Parliament, said:

“I am deeply grateful to the Speaker of the House of Commons for the opportunity to once again mark the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces from Crawley and to reflect on all those affected by war across the world. We will remember them.”
