Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley, has today welcomed the significant cost of living measures announced in today’s Budget, which will directly benefit residents living in Crawley.
To help tackle rising household bills, inflated due to the Middle East conflict, the Labour Government has announced today that residents living in Council Tax bands A-D will receive a Council tax rebate of £100 to help with their Energy Bills. Over 40,000 properties in Crawley will benefit from this.
The Labour Government also announced that VAT on electricity bills will be cut until July 2027. The standing charges, the fixed daily unit rate, will also be scrapped on gas bills from 2027.
In addition, the Government has removed import taxes on over 100 everyday essential food products.
All these measures form part of the wider measures announced today to help residents tackle the cost of living and allow for more ‘breathing space’ in managing their household finances.
Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley, said:
“I am delighted that this Labour Government has delivered a budget that will directly benefit residents in Crawley. We will see real change to help with household finances. A £100 Council tax rebate for those in Council tax bands A-D, a cut in VAT on electricity bills, and scrapping standing charge on gas bills, will all make a significant difference.”
“These cost-of-living measures announced today will help all residents manage their household finances. This labour Government and this budget is on the side of Crawley residents.”
