The event, hosted by Wellbeing Economics APPG Co-Chair Peter Lamb MP in Parliament, was organised by the World Wellbeing Movement and brought together parliamentarians, policy experts and campaigners to explore how governments can place wellbeing at the heart of decision-making.

The group is co-chaired Lord Gus O’Donnell, the former Cabinet Secretary and long-standing advocate for measuring national wellbeing alongside economic performance and its long time contributor, Lord Richard Layard, the leading expert on wellbeing economics, was also present and provided contributions.

The World Happiness Report is recognised internationally as one of the leading assessments of wellbeing, examining the factors that enable individuals and communities to live healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives. The 2026 report provides valuable insight into the role of health, social connection, trust, security and opportunity in improving quality of life.

Peter Lamb MP, said:

“It was a pleasure to host the World Wellbeing Movement in Parliament and to bring together experts, parliamentarians and campaigners to discuss the findings of the World Happiness Report 2026.

“Economic growth remains vital, but it is equally important that we consider how public policy improves people’s everyday lives. Good health, secure employment, strong communities and meaningful social connections all contribute to individual wellbeing and to a stronger society.

“As we continue to tackle the challenges facing our country, conversations like these help ensure that wellbeing remains an important consideration across government, alongside economic prosperity and public service reform.”
