Crawley families set to benefit from Government’s ‘Great British Summer Savings’

Families in Crawley will enjoy discounted attractions and meals out, with VAT temporarily slashed on kid’s menu meals, children’s cinema and theatre tickets, and tickets for attractions like soft play, adventure centres, and theme parks this summer.

The latest government measures to tackle the cost of living are designed to make it easier and more affordable for families to enjoy their summer: reducing the cost of weekend treats and days out. In addition, children aged between five to 15 years’ old will be able to travel free on local bus services throughout August.

The scheme will run from 25 June until 1 September 2026 and comes on top of the Government’s wider support to help families with the cost of living, including: cutting £117 from energy bills, and freezing prescriptions charges, fuel duty and rail fares.

Many families with children will already be benefitting from Labour’s roll out of 30 hours of government-funded childcare, free breakfast clubs, and the extension of free school meals—all helping families to make ends meet.

Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley said:

“Despite the UK growing faster than any other G7 country, global economic uncertainty means everyone is feeling the squeeze on living standards. We’re working hard to try to help people make ends meet, but life is about more than just the basics and this package is designed to try to help families create more of those happy memories that every child should benefit from.”
