Crawley stakeholders respond to SEND proposals

The issue most frequently raised with me at weekly surgeries is the difficulty parents and carers face accessing support for children with SEND.

Everyone accepts that the current system isn’t working, the question is what to do next. The Government recently announced proposals for a radical shake-up of the system and ran a consultation to gather public feedback (quick summary can be found here).

In order to ensure the voices of local stakeholders were heard in the consultation, on Saturday I ran a roundtable discussion in Crawley for parents/carers, teachers and other interested parties invited to attend, the responses of which were drafted into a report and submitted to the consultation process.
