Warm Home Discount Boost: Crawley Families See Cut in Energy Bills

The Labour Government’s decision to expand the Warm Home Discount Scheme means approximately 670,000 additional households across the South-East are now set to receive a £150 reduction on their energy bills.

Families in Crawley are starting to receive notification letters confirming their eligibility. This follows the expansion of this crucial cost of living support to include all bill payers who qualify for a means-tested benefit.

This action confirms Labour’s commitment to safeguarding families throughout the country. The change is bringing nearly 2.7 million more households into the scheme, which is projected to increase the overall number of recipients to around 6.1 million.

Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley said:

“I know well the financial pressures high energy prices are placing on many households in Crawley. This expanded Warm Homes Discount provides vital support to those families who need it most while we work to build a lower-cost energy system for all.”

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband said:

“Letters will be dropping on doormats across the country this week, containing welcome news for hundreds of thousands of families.”

“This Government is determined to tackle energy affordability for families, and this winter more people will be helped as a result.”

“I would urge anyone who doesn’t automatically qualify for the discount to get in touch with their supplier, so they get the money they are entitled to.”
