Crawley MP Plants Tribute in Garden of Remembrance

Crawley’s Member of Parliament, Peter Lamb, has planted a wooden cross in the House of Commons Garden of Remembrance to recognise the huge sacrifices made by the UK’s Armed Forces and those who have served in past conflicts.

Every year, Parliament’s New Palace Yard is transformed into a Garden of Remembrance, with Members of Parliament invited to plant tributes on behalf of their constituents. The memorial is organised in conjunction with the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal, and remains in place for the period immediately surrounding Remembrance Sunday.

In addition to tributes from Members of Parliament, stakes are also planted to represent the 54 Commonwealth member countries and the 14 British Overseas Territories.

In the remembrance garden in Parliament, Peter Lamb said:

“I am immensely proud to have the chance to represent Crawley in marking the sacrifices made by our Armed Services and remembering all those who are affected by war. I thank the Speaker of the House of Commons for this opportunity.”
