With nominations now declared, seven candidates have been officially registered to run as ‘Labour and Co-operative’ in this May’s Crawley Borough Council elections – the highest number in Crawley’s history and one of a record number running across the country at this year’s local elections.
Crawley’s Labour and Co-operative candidates are:
- Dipesh Patel in Furnace Green
- Chris Mullins in Gossops Green and North East Broadfield
- Julian Charatan in Ifield
- Imran Ashraf in Langley Green and Tushmore
- Olu Adeniyi in Maidenbower
- Peter Lamb in Northgate and West Green
- Justin Russell in Pound Hill North and Forge Wood
Since 1927, the Labour Party and the Co-operative Party have maintained an electoral agreement which allows for candidates to stand on a joint Labour and Co-operative platform. There are over 1,200 Labour & Co-operative Councillors across the country, alongside 26 Labour & Co-operative MPs and numerous MSPs, MSs and Mayors.
