A Labour Government’s Council Tax Freeze would put £3.4m back in the pockets of families in Crawley

New analysis from Crawley Labour reveals Labour’s Council Tax Freeze would save households in Crawley £3,434,146 this year. The average household would save £75.

While Crawley Borough Council is responsible for collecting council tax in Crawley on behalf of all local authorities in the area, 77.8% of the revenue goes to West Sussex County Council, 11.4% is set by the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, with only 10.7% going to Crawley Borough Council.

Keir Starmer launched Labour’s local election campaign this week by announcing that a Labour Government would cancel this year’s council tax hike – fully funded by a proper windfall tax on the bumper profits of oil and gas companies. The announcement follows a Conservative budget which saw £1bn tax cut for the richest 1%.
