Press Release: Get your skates on this Christmas!

Shoppers can now enjoy some festive fun at a brand new, real ice rink in Queens Square.

Brought to you by Horsham Outdoor Events, in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and sponsors B&CE, the eagerly anticipated ice rink opens on 17 November until 7 January 2018.

Visitors and shoppers alike will be able to test out their skills at hourly sessions that will run from 10am until 9pm each day.

The ice rink is open to those aged four and above and special parent and toddler sessions will be held during off-peak times. Panda skate aids are available to hire for those looking for some extra help.

Joining in with the fun is Starbucks, who are offering 50p off any hot drink on presentation of a wristband.

There’s plenty of parking nearby at the Town Hall multi-storey and Orchard Street car parks. However we advise people to use public transport during busy periods. Metrobus has a stop outside Queens Square and Crawley Train Station is also just a few minutes’ walk away.

Leader of Crawley Borough Council, Councillor Peter Lamb, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to bring this ice rink into the town centre after many years of requests. It is a welcome addition to the programme of festive events happening this year and I look forward to seeing visitors and residents enjoying it over the course of its stay.”

Continuing this, Cabinet member for Wellbeing, Councillor Chris Mullins, said: “There’s nothing more festive than enjoying some ice skating after finishing your Christmas shopping. We already have a great range of shops, so I am very pleased to be able to offer this ice rink and encourage residents and visitors to take advantage of our fantastic town centre this Christmas.”

Patrick Heath-Lay, Chief Executive of Manor Royal based company B&CE, commented: “We are delighted to play our part in bringing an ice rink to Crawley this winter. The recent renovation to Queen’s Square is fantastic and the ice rink will be a brilliant addition this Christmas.”

Tickets cost £8.95 per adult at peak times and £6.50 off peak and under 16s pay £6.95 peak and £6.00 off peak. Family tickets and group discounts are also available.
