Labour’s first steps in Government

Last week, the Labour Party announced the first crucial steps the party would take in government, steps which will make an immediate impact to working people’s lives, for instance Great British Energy.

From conversations on the doorstep across the town, I know that the cost of living is the single biggest concern of Crawley residents. Rent, mortgages, energy bills and food bills keep rising far faster than incomes. If elected, Great British Energy has the potential to not only deliver cheaper bills for our community, but help to upen up better career paths for local people.

Over the last 16 years, I have fought for our community, leading the town in the face of Austerity, Brexit and COVID-19, doing whatever was in the power of the local council to protect local people. I am running in this contest because we have reached the limit of what can be achieved for our community at the local level.

With Labour’s approach to national issues, such as by taxing the excessive profits of oil and gas companies and using that money to directly support the many struggles families in our community are facing, we have the chance to take on problems like the cost of living and deliver the genuine change the town is crying out for.
