Peter Lamb MP welcomes progress on noise barrier for Forge Wood residents

Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley, has welcomed news that the developer of Forge Wood is willing to extend the existing acoustic barrier along Honour Way to help reduce noise from passing trains.

Peter has been leading efforts, with local Councillors Nick Hilton and Justin Russell, to address concerns raised by residents about railway noise, particularly those living on Honour Way.

The developer has now confirmed that it is prepared to extend the barrier beyond its current position, subject to approval from Crawley Borough Council. The proposed works would provide additional noise protection for nearby homes.

The extension would be carried out when the developer returns to Forge Wood to begin its final phase of development, which is currently awaiting planning permission.

Peter Lamb, Crawley Labour MP, said:

“I am pleased that progress is being made on this important issue for Forge Wood residents. I have been raising their concerns and pushing for improvements, so this is a welcome step forward.”

“I will continue working with residents, the developer and Crawley Borough Council to ensure these improvements are delivered as soon as possible.”

Nick Hilton and Justin Russell, Labour Councillors for Pound Hill North and Forge Wood said:

“We are so pleased that thanks to Peter Lamb’s intervention, the acoustic fence will be extended along the railway line by Honour Way in Forge Wood . Residents are not only affected by passing trains but are also disturbed early on in the morning from noise coming from the bus garage across the railway tracks. It is long overdue but the work will really improve the quality of life for local residents.”
