Crawley MP Peter Lamb is encouraging veterans to check if they are entitled to an Armed Forces Pension

Peter Lamb, Labour MP for Crawley, is proposing that former service personnel to find out if they are entitled to a deferred Armed Forces Pension, especially those who left the military before qualifying for an immediate pension.

According to the Ministry of Defence, more than 15,000 pension benefits remain unclaimed, with many with shorter periods of service or who served in reserve roles unaware that they may be entitled to a pension.

Peter Lamb said:

‘This country owes much to those who have chosen to serve and we need to do more to support them. At the very least we need to ensure that every veteran receives the retirement benefits they earned during their years of service. Crawley is home to many veterans and I would urge anyone not currently receiving their Armed Forces Pension to check if they qualify’.

Peter Lamb has backed a campaign by the Forces Pension Society, which offers a flowchart on its website to help veterans check their eligibility.
