While Highways is, of course, a county council responsibility, fairly often people write to me asking about what a roadwork is for or how long it will be in place.
Of course, I always do my best to help, but the reality is that in general borough councillors have exactly the same routes for accessing information or raising highways issues as any other member of the public.
Fortunately, a lot of this information is already available in the public domain and over the years I’ve collated a lot of tools I send to new councillors setting out what they can find and where. One such tool is one.network which provides a map of all current and planned roadworks. Alongside this is specifies who has requested them–so you can find out why they’re taking place, how long they are planned for and you can even sign up to mailing lists for particular pieces of work, making it easy to know what is going on in your area.
To use the tool, just go to https://one.network/. No sign-up required.
