Residents in Crawley’s region hardest hit by cost-of-living crisis

The latest incomes tracker produced for ASDA by the Centre for Economics and Business Research makes for depressing reading.

A combination of inflation and real-terms pay cuts have seen UK households suffer an average cut of £20.77 in their disposable income compared to this time last year, a reduction in living standards equivalent to £1,080.04 over the course of the year.

However, for Crawley residents and others living in the South East, the impact is almost double the UK average, with a cut in disposable income equivalent to £2,132.

Crawley can no longer afford a Government asleep at the wheel. We need real action to not only support families through the current crisis, but to combat the factors which have seen UK household real incomes stagnate since the 1970s. After 13 years, it is clear that the Tories don’t have the answers to the problems facing Britain. It’s time for change. It’s time for Labour.
