Flytipping is up 42% in Crawley. A Labour Government would give councils the power to make flytippers clear their own mess

Incidences of flytipping in Crawley have grown from 1,006 in 2018/19 to 1,732 in 2021/22, the most recent year for which figures are available.

While councils continue to use of fines to penalise flytippers while increasingly struggling to fund the street cleaning teams necessary to address the issue in their areas, incidences of flytipping across the UK have now reached 125 incidences an hour, clearly demonstrating that the existing system of fines do not work.

A Labour Government would give local authorities the power to force flytippers to clean up their own mess using Fixed Penalty Cleaning Notices, reducing the cost to councils while ensuring that those responsible for causing harm to their local community are forced to deal with the consequences of putting it right.
