New figures, published by Crawley Labour reveal knife crime is up 82% across the South East since 2015. The figures come as Keir Starmer made making Britain’s Streets Safe one of his 5 Missions for a Better Britain.
Robbery is up 42% over the same period whilst the number of PCSOs on local streets have been slashed by 43%. Across the country, the number of PCSOs has halved since the Conservatives came to power in 2010.
Labour has pledged to bring back neighbourhood policing by putting 13,000 more neighbourhood police on Britain’s streets, including recruiting at least 10,000 more officers, PCSOs and specials. Labour’s plans are the equivalent of giving every constituency in England and Wales 15-20 extra neighbourhood police.
