New analysis by Crawley Labour reveals there are now 14,365 pupils in classrooms of more than 30 in West Sussex, with the figures including schools in Crawley.
Data from the Department for Education (DfE) reveals that 932,776 school pupils are now in super-sized classrooms, an increase of 185,245 since 2010. The number of school pupils in overcrowded classes in England has increased by 24.8% under the Conservatives since 2010.
As teachers go on strike, the figures reveal the impact of the Conservatives underfunding education for over a decade, with schools struggling to recruit and retain teachers. Ultimately, it is not only the children who will pay the personal price for the lack of investment in their future, but the country as a whole feeling the effects of a lost generation of education.
It’s time the Government did the right thing and give teachers and schools the funding they need to deliver the education system England deserves.
